Red-Crowned Crane Silk Painting Art

Sale price$344.00 Regular price$430.00

The red-crowned crane is endowed with connotations of unswerving loyalty and noble character in Chinese culture. This symbolic significance was particularly prominent during the Ming and Qing dynasties, evident in the embroidery of the red-crowned crane's image on the robe of first-rank civil officials, as a way to highlight their loyalty and integrity. The depiction of the crane employs a very concise brushwork, with each feather distinct and clearly defined, differing from the usual delicate and ethereal painting style. The artist utilizes the natural color of the silk canvas to depict the darker areas of the feathers, instead of using different colors to achieve shading. The lighter areas are directly rendered by blending white color from the edges of the feathers towards the center, ultimately achieving a rendering effect reminiscent of a bas-relief.

This is an original Asian silk painting art, not a print, that was produced in the 1980s and 1990s by painters from Suzhou, China. Using silk as their canvas, the artists skillfully captured the Song dynasty style of Chinese watercolor paintings.

Because these paintings are all handicrafts, works with the same theme may have different layout and colors. Also because of limitations in imaging and photography equipment, the image may have subtle color differences from the actual product.
