Flower & Bird Silk Painting Art

Sale price$160.00 Regular price$200.00

The painting depicts a serene scene of a bird perched on a branch, symbolizing auspiciousness and well-being. This was a favorite subject matter among court painters of the Song Dynasty. Song Dynasty's bird-and-flower paintings can be divided into two types: one is meticulous and richly colored, while the other is expressive and ink-based. This painting belongs to the former category. Such works, inheriting a magnificent painting style, were the mainstream of bird-and-flower paintings in the Northern Song Dynasty. The sharp contrast in colors between the flowers and the bird brings clarity to the seemingly intricate scenery. The technique used to paint the flowers is particularly noteworthy. The painter barely employed graduated shading to create the illusion of depth, instead opting for a flat, evenly applied method. This approach lends the painting a sense of unity, while also imparting a decorative effect that evokes a sense of antiquity.

This is an original Asian silk painting art, not a print, that was produced in the 1980s and 1990s by painters from Suzhou, China. Using silk as their canvas, the artists skillfully captured the Song dynasty style of Chinese watercolor paintings.

Because these paintings are all handicrafts, works with the same theme may have different layout and colors. Also because of limitations in imaging and photography equipment, the image may have subtle color differences from the actual product.
